Morning Routine
Routines Routines Routines! We all see the pretty YouTube influencers posting their healthy morning routines. “That girl” routine. The routines that inspire me to wake up at 5 am, drink a gallon of celery juice, and eat a healthy aesthetic breakfast. Honestly, I love these routines and I think there is GREAT intention behind them, but realistically…I cannot do these routines everyday. But, I am still addicted to watching them! So…I may have taken ideas from these influencers and put together my own “that girl” morning ritual. I made it a little more doable for me, something that will still motivate me and help me get a great start to my day. So…here it goes!
Sunrise Alarm Clock Goes Off at 7 am
I won’t lie to you…I may have watched one too many morning routine videos that involve using a sunrise alarm clock. So, like the sucker I am…I bought one off of Amazon. And wow, I am SO glad I did. I literally could not stand waking up to the sound of my blaring iPhone alarm every morning. I would get so startled every morning with enough adrenaline to flip a car over. I know…. I may be slightly exaggerating about that, but this sunrise alarm clock has been a game changer for my mornings. Firstly, it legit imitates a sunrise (duh!) and it slowly brightens up the room over a course of about 30 minutes. After it is fully lit up, then a natural sounds plays through the speakers. Of course I chose the ocean sound. So I feel like I am waking up from a slumber on the beach which is a MUCH nicer way of waking up rather than from a blaring alarm clock that makes you want to throw your phone through a wall.
I like to wake up anytime between 6-7 am depending on what I need to do that day. Most days I get up at 7 am. I am using a 5 second rule as well. As soon as you turn off your alarm, you have 5 seconds to get up. It really works! Think of something you are excited about for the day and get your booty outta bed within 5 seconds! Now you are up!
Bathroom Ritual Time
First thing I do after waking up…is well…go to the bathroom lol. I immediately rinse my face with coldish water to wake up then proceed to wash my face with my favorite Pacifica brand face wash and follow up with my Pacifica Vitamin C facial lotion. And no…this is not an ad for Pacifica. I love the brand and that is what I am currently using at the moment. I brush my teeth with my Hello toothpaste and floss
(I floss way too much, dental hygiene is so important to me). I usually rarely wear makeup since I am a pet sitter, so I am constantly outside, but if I do, I like to swipe on a couple of coats of my Better Than Sex mascara. It gives me a little boost of confidence (; I brush my hair with my Wet Brush, throw on my outfit of the day, and bathroom ritual is over!
Chug a glass of water
This step does not need a paragraph, but drinking water first thing in the morning is so important! You are sleeping all night long and your body becomes slightly dehydrated so one of the first things I do is drink an entire glass of water each morning!
Piper Care Time
Anyone else here a dog momma or dog daddy? If so, then you know that your furry child is apart of your everyday routine. So after I finish getting ready, it is time to wake the princess up (she loves to sleep a lot and she can be lazy, which we can all relate to, but I gotta give her a little boost most mornings). I put her harness on and we head out the door down 4 flights of stairs….no wonder why she does not want to get out of her bed. lol. Piper and I walk for about 20 minutes most mornings to get the blood flowing and to get our steps in! I make her health a top priority and I want to make sure she gets enough exercise in each day! After our walk, she then gets her healthy breakfast that includes her freeze dried food, Wholehearted dry food, a scoop of pumpkin, fish oil, and chicken. It is her absolute favorite part of the day! Oh…and yes…I also give my dog multivitamins..so she gets those as well! Also…I give her filtered water. So she is set!
Healthy “That Girl” Breakfast
Okay, I will be real, I can be a little lazy some mornings when it comes to making breakfast. I eat the same meal each and every morning for breakfast. So I do not have a “that girl” breakfast. I won’t be making some atheistically pleasing smoothie bowl or fancy avocado toast sprinkled with hemp seeds. Although I might save my “that girl” breakfast for Sundays. I may be a little spoiled every morning because my boyfriend makes me some delicious eggs every morning with a bowl of fruit. I don’t know what it is or how he does it, but he makes the best eggs in the world. So I will eat 3 eggs, over medium, every single morning with my bowl of fruit which usually consists of strawberries and pineapple. Still healthy yet filling! I like to fill up every morning on some protein because it fuels me throughout my busy mornings and afternoons. As a pet sitter, I do a ton of walking, so the more energy, the better.
Of course I did not forget about COFFEE
Now what would a morning routine be without some delicious freshly brewed coffee? It wouldn’t be a morning routine….. So of course, the first thing I do before everything else is I turn on the coffee pot so that my coffee brews while I am completing all of the above steps. Now, I prepare my coffee the night before, so that in the morning, all I have to do is turn on the pot. Makes my life easier. I actually have a coffee bar setup that you can see below. It is my little mystical bar of magic. Not to be dramatic or anything. But anyways, I pick out a mug that I want to use, fill it up with magic juice (aka coffee), and I use maple syrup as my sweetener and Planet Oak coffee creamer. I recently switched from stevia to maple syrup because I have read some not so great things about using stevia everyday. We can get into that another time. But my coffee always tastes PERFECT. It is definitely a great start to my day.
Let’s open up the Bible now
So recently I bought the She Reads Truth Bible. I won’t lie, before that, I have never read the Bible before. I do go to a Christian church every Sunday and I LOVE it. I feel so at home there and I wanted to go ahead and purchase the Bible and really get into God’s word each day. I downloaded the Bible app and I pick a reading plan and follow along with it in my Bible each week. I like to sit down and have a few moments with God each day. I am not perfect and I do not read the Bible everyday, but I try to most days. I feel it is important for me to grow into my faith and become the best version of myself. Now I know some people are not religious, which is totally okay, but I realize that spending time with God everyday has made me feel more uplifted and loved, so I make it a priority to worship him each and everyday even if it is just for 10 minutes each morning.
Journal
A while back, I purchased a 5 minute journal off of Amazon and it has been a game changer. I know a lot of people like to journal each day, but I became discouraged when I would find myself struggling on what to write each day, so purchasing this 5 minute journal has helped guide me on what to write. It is more of a gratitude journal, so each morning I will write down the things I am grateful for, what I am excited about today, and how I will find time for gratitude each day. It really does help me have a positive mentality each and everyday. Sometimes people get so sucked into everyday life and nobody is ever present in the moment anymore, so even taking 5 minutes each morning to be present in the moment has changed my thought process in the most positive way.
Yoga at 9:30
Time to get my workout on!!! Yoga has become something that I absolutely love! I signed up last year and absolutely became addicted to it. Now, I do hot yoga, which can be intense. It makes my body feel amazing and I am so much stronger and more flexible. I was lifting weights for YEARS which is great, but I got so bored with it and felt like I was just going to the gym just to go and not because I loved it anymore. Then a friend introduced me to a local yoga studio and I became addicted to it. I usually sign up Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:30 am and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:15 am because it usually works with my schedule. I love to sweat…which I know is weird but it makes me feel accomplished and like I really got in an amazing workout. So yoga has become an important part of my morning routine.
Now I gotta walk all the dogs
I have completed every step to my morning routine which means it is time to get my booty to work! Like I mentioned previously, I have my own pet care business, which I love! Working with animals all day is definitely a dream come true haha. I know….you are jealous of my job….I would be too if I were you. Jk…sort of. But now it is time for me to start my work day!
That concludes my morning routine. I will say that I do not do this EVERY SINGLE MORNING, but I aim to do this routine most mornings. I hope my little routine can inspire you to create your own healthy morning routine. I know that by having some sort of routine, it increases my productivity throughout the day and gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I want to become the best and most successful version of myself, so I start each day with healthy habits.
