10 Ways to Practice Self-Love đź’•
By practicing self compassion and self love, you are reaching a high version of yourself. Your higher self exists in a state of love. Every time you are loving, kind, forgiving, and compassionate to yourself and others, you are reaching a higher vibration. Learn to love everything in your life, every feeling, thought and action you take. Think of yourself as a beautiful, loving person doing the best you can. Nurture yourself, be kind to yourself. Stop criticizing yourself and maybe try approving of yourself and see what happens. Let’s all learn to be a good friend to ourselves.
Here are 10 ways to practice self-love:
Take yourself out on a solo date. You can take yourself to dinner, a coffee shop, a walk in the park, a spa, museum, etc. This is a great way to boost self confidence and truly get to know yourself.
Learn to say no. It is natural for humans to want to help others and not let other people down, but people pleasing can be exhausting. It is ok to set boundaries for yourself. You can’t be available all the time for others and sometimes you need to do what is best for you.
Accept yourself for exactly who you are right now. When we learn to practice self acceptance, it can help us forgive ourselves for mistakes we have made, it helps us become more confident in our abilities, and it helps us tune into inner peace.
Practice daily self-care. This can look like a skincare ritual, soaking in the bath, massaging yourself, or cooking yourself a nourishing meal. Take the time to really nurture and care for your body.
Exercise. Take a yoga class, go for a long nature walk, lift some weights, take a pilates class. Just get out and move your body. It boosts mood and self esteem.
Don’t compare yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of joy. Striving to be like someone else will only make you feel not good enough. Be your unique and authentic self and strive to be the best version of yourself.
Surround yourself with uplifting people. Who you surround yourself with can have a big impact on how you love yourself. Do you surround yourself with people who tear you down? Or with people who lift you up?
Speak life into your life. Look into the mirror everyday and tell yourself 3 things you love about yourself (you can write this down too). You can say “I love my kindness” or “I love my body for everything it does for me” or even “I love the way my smile can light up a room”
Eat nourishing foods. Treat your body like a temple. Eat foods that make you feel good physically and mentally. Steer clear of processed and toxic junk.
Spend time in nature. Reconnect with mother earth. Take a break from all the noise and chaos and truly ground yourself. Watch the sunset at the beach, walk in the park, hike a mountain, kayak in a river, catch an early sunrise. Allow yourself to just truly be at one with nature.
