9 Tips for Clear and Healthy Skin
I never thought I would be writing a blog post like this considering I have had skin issues majority of my life. Growing up, I have always had acne, which of course sucked, but as I got older, I became more careful about what I was putting in and on my body. So here are some tips I have been using that have helped not only clear up my skin, but improve my skin’s texture and color as well.
Tip #1: Take your vitamins! This is super important as certain vitamins determine the health of your skin. Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc, Selenium, and Vitamin D. Make sure you are getting an adequate amount of these vitamins as they all play an important roll in keeping your skin clear and healthy. I like these vitamins.
Tip #2: This kinda goes hand in hand with Tip #1, but drink carrot juice everyday. Carrot juice contains beta-carotene, which converts into Retinol, the purest form of Vitamin A. Benefits of carrot juice consists of reducing redness and scarring, helps prevent sun damage, keeps your face clear of acne, and keeps your skin moisturized and glowing! Don’t drink too much carrot juice everyday as it can cause carotenemia, which is a condition where your skin turns yellowish from too much beta-carotene in your blood. So drink a half a glass a day or 4 oz.
Tip #3: Use a water filter for your shower and your sinks. Hard water can cause damage to your skin and even your hair. Hard water contains minerals which can strip the moisture out of your skin causing it to become very dry. The minerals from the hard water can also dry onto your skin which in turn clogs your pores and can cause acne. So definitely make the switch. You can try this filtered shower head here. You can also try this sink filter as well.
Tip #4: Use non toxic and all natural products on your skin. Throw out that lotion, throw out your body wash, your drugstore skin products, and even your perfume. Most of these contain harsh chemicals and fragrances that your skin absorbs. It makes sense why cancer and diseases are more common now….because our everyday products contain bad ingredients that can be absorbed by the skin and into the blood stream. I use my golden secrets products (code: saltysea10 at checkout). They are 100% naturally derived oils found in nature. This skincare line has everything you would need. It has cleared up my skin, got rid of my redness, and has moisturized my skin more than any other product I have ever used. I will be using this skincare for the rest of my life because of how amazing it is.
Tip #5: Get some sunshine. The most natural way to get Vitamin D is by going outside and getting some sun. Twenty minutes daily is plenty. Vitamin D reduces inflammation in your body which in turn can reduce acne.
Tip #6: Change your pillow case every other day. Sleep on one side and the next night, flip it over and then change it. Bacteria may gather on your pillowcase and can cause unwanted acne.
Tip #7: You are what you eat. What you put in your body produces what you will look like on the outside. Make sure you are eating a colorful diet filled with veggies, wild caught salmon, avocados, pasture raised meat, and whole grains. Avoid processed foods all together.
Tip #8: Don’t overwash your face. Aim to wash your face with a gentle and non toxic cleanser in the evening time. In the morning, rinse your face with cool water and use a wash cloth. Over washing your face can cause your skin to over produce oils and cause breakouts.
Tip #9: HYDRATE! Drink your water. Make sure it is filtered water. Drinking water flushes out the toxins in your body. You can use this water filter here.
I hope these tips have helped. Remember, consistency is key. Clear and healthy skin takes time and patience.
